Sunday Sweat Session // The Maven Life

Sounds good doesn't it? Meet Maven. Train smart, eat well and live intentionally. Sounds like a no-brainer but... how? I have experience and training in all three of these areas yet I constantly find myself digging through all of the information out there trying to create some kind of healthy, balanced routine out of all the new workouts and food fads I come across (don't even get me started on the eye-catching blog post titles about 'how to live the life of your dreams'). Enter my friend Sydney. When I say I have training in all of these areas it pales in comparison to the training she has. I'm talking education and real life experience out the wazoo. I can remember the day we sat down and she shared her idea for Maven with me. I basically got on my knees and begged her to do it if for no other reason than I needed her to do it so I could benefit from it (I'm an only child, I blame my selfish tendencies on that).
And benefit I did.
Some quick background nuggets: I teach spin 5-7 times a week and my husband has decades of experience in strength and conditioning. I should've been fit as hell but I didn't look or feel the way I wanted to.
Enter Syd. I was lucky enough to take part in the 4 Week Foundational Online Training Program and if it was appropriate to write in all caps without coming across as aggressive and yelly I would tell you IT IS THE REAL DEAL. The workouts worked. The shape of my waistline has changed, I've toned and built muscle in all the right places (seriously, I've never had so many compliments on my arms) and more importantly I ENJOYED the workouts and I started to feel really good just one week in. I got into a consistent routine which is a first for me, my energy was higher, I felt stronger teaching my classes, I was motivated to do the next workout and I fit them in no matter when because I felt strong and proud and downright great doing them. I got a daily email telling me what my workout was, I could message Sydney with questions and she replied asap, there are videos showing each exercise and the Facebook group sharing comments about how great (sore) they are feeling was perfect motivation for me to stay accountable to the workouts.
They are the right amount of challenging (and can be modified based on your fitness level), take approx. 30-45 minutes depending on how long you give yourself and they work your whole body. If I wasn't so disorganized I would have had before and after pictures but it's too late for that, I'm not going back to my 'before' body now that I've had a taste of Maven.
Now, I just got a taste of the fitness side of Maven, I'm about to sign up for the 12-week program that is starting TOMORROW (May 2//2016)- it includes information on nutrition which I think is seriously important if you truly want to feel your best. Lastly, back to the 'live intentionally' bit. If you want to be the creator of your life, check out the goal setting and coaching options. Sydney is an Igolü certified goal coach and also holds a Master's in Leadership. In other words, she knows what she's talking about. Most accomplishments are born out of setting and working towards goals, Maven included. Simply put, these are opportunities to discover useful ways to choose how you live the one life you've got.
