Levi's Reinvented // Iconic OG Style

Jeans have evolved tremendously since its inception back in the 1870s, debuting initially as work pants and eventually turning into a wardrobe essential for both men and women. From the traditional straight-leg styles to bell-bottoms and the ever-so-popular skinny jeans, denim pants have truly broadened their horizons in terms of silhouettes, cuts and washes. But just as the fashion experts from Vogue have reported, it’s high time that we revert our attention from stretch denim back to an original fit. What better way is there to go back to the classics than to turn to iconic Levi Strauss, the company that invented the most famous casual pants of all time?
While Levi Strauss has collaborated with numerous designers to produce capsule collections, the brand has stayed true to its aesthetic, but at the same time, it has also celebrated the artistry of the creatives in question. One of the most recent partnerships of the leading denim label is a venture with Virgil Abloh, a rising star in the world of luxury fashion

A pioneer in mixing high fashion and streetwear, as iterated in the Off-White collection on Lyst, Abloh was the perfect choice for introducing a new, luxe twist to denim. His unique eye for construction and innovation stems from his diverse background that includes civil engineering and architecture, and rather than coming up with a specific design on paper, he improvised as he saw fit, a norm in his creative process. The results were a throwback to retro styles of the ‘80s; a light blue wash that was also used in the denim jackets that had unconventional pops of color.
With a knack for mixing vintage silhouettes with modern cuts, Abloh is just what Levi Strauss needed to refresh their timeless original fit jeans. Of course, the collection wasn’t just about the Levi’s, as Abloh made sure to include some of his signature designs. One of his trademarks are the zippers, which Julie Wolfson from Cool Hunting explains are, “highly visible, exposed, and industrial-looking with a ring pull.”
Although Levi jeans might seem boring to the everyday fashionista, with skinnies offering a sexy, streamlined silhouette that most of us are after, these reinvented bottoms have received the cool streetwear stamp of approval that deem it worthy to replace the tired skin tight fit. So forget any grudges you had against mom jeans or baggy pants, and find new reasons to fall in love with Levi’s.

I'm a firm believer of quality when it comes to denim. Unique pieces out of durable denim will last you. Jump at the opportunity to snag a piece from a collab and when you spot a vintage pair grab them. You can rework them in the future if you want, get a good tailor or watch some decent DYI YouTube vids ;)
